What ever happened to common courtesy?

This might be taken as a whiny post, but I do not care.

When you find a group, a PUG to be exact, you might be the only cloth wearer or the only chain wearer.  And with that fact, you also expect to be the only one to get cloth or chain items.  It's common courtesy to let the people who need the item have it over the people who don't need it.

That is, however, not always the case.  I was playing my little sorc yesterday, in Taran's Cavern with a good group.  Consisting of only 5 people, we did very well.  I CC'd when needed, fussed when they broke it before it was time, and dealt good damage.  Rules for the loot was not given, so I assumed it was need before greed.  This assumption was proven when a pair of green cloth pants dropped and no one but I rolled for them.

However, farther into the dungeon, I was looting my monster when, to my amazement, there were a pair of blue Fate Shoes.  I was thrilled.  They were good stats, a nice amount of manastone slots, and I could really use them.  I told the party "Oh, I need these! : D"   To my dismay, everyone rolled along with me.  The Gladiator, Doomcrak won them.  I asked if I could please have them.  I could use them and benefit from them and I would very much appreciate if he gave them to me.  His reply?  "I really need the money."

Well, Mr. Doomcrak, I hope that 150k you got was worth your reputation. ;]   Not only is this story known to the readers of my blog but also to anyone and EVERYONE who asked why I was upset yesterday after the incident.   Good job being a ninja.

The rest of the members of that group (that had the same kind of illogical thinking as Doomclak does) were as follows:

Aviar

Relle

Tetsude

If these people are in your PUG, be wary.  They will roll on blue items they cannot use and say "Blue items are free-for-all."

Once again, watch out especially for Doomcrak.  He'll steal items he can't use just to sell them.  What a ninja.

Gold Sellers

Recently, Gold Sellers are getting way more personal!  Rarely do you see a spammed message in the /3 channel now.  Instead, you get a PM from a suspicious name.

Yesterday, I got a PM from someone named Sexyair.  It struck me as odd because 1.) Air cannot be sexy and 2.) it was a level 10 mage class.   Rather tired of the same ol' same ol' that you get from Gold Sellers, I decided that I would get to personally know this "Sexyair" in an attempt to break the fragile barrier between player and  Gold Seller. This is the chaos that ensued:

YEAH. Sorry about how choppy the background looks and stuff. I wanted to edit out guild and party chat  without covering the whole window in white lines.

In any case, I feel very privileged to have gotten such a nice Gold Seller. o:

While this screenie may not be very funny, the back story of it is.

I was on Black Cloud Island, talking to a few guildies while I let my flight timer recharge when lo and behold an Elyos attacks me!   Afraid for my little life, I turn around and see it's another cleric. o:   Ms. Joyful, at the time a level 41 while I a mere 38,  was smiting the hell out of me.  So, I returned fire!  Earth's Wrath, Festering Wound, and Chastisement all went up on her and I started smiting her.  What's really amusing... she didn't know enough about her class to just Dispell my DOTs.  How sad and pathetic is that?  Well, I got her down to 1/8th of her health and she tried healing, which festering wound fucked over, and she decided "Oh shit, this Cleric is srs bizniz" and jumped off the side of the island, killing herself while depriving me of that delicious AP.  Honestly... the sheer amusement of the whole ordeal was worth being jipped of 600-700 AP.

I hope I run into you again, Joyful.  Maybe next time you'll learn more about your class and be a worth-while opponent. ;]

How to Play a Cleric!

So, today I gave out tips on how to play a Cleric!  I might not be the best one out there, but I'm one of the better ones (or so I'd like to think)!   Instead of keeping those tips to just one thread, I'll put them in here too for future reference. ^^  These tips were given to a fellow Cleric named Daevinity.

Even though you can heal yourself, you should bring some instant heal pots, such as Greater Life Serums, with you in case your heal keeps getting disrupted or you're trying to fly away and healing yourself is not an option.

Raging Wind scrolls and Running scrolls are pretty awesome to have too. It can help you keep away or just keep the other guy at a distance if he uses the same thing. I'm an alchemist. ^^ If you can find me in-game, I can give you a good discount or make some for you if you have most of the materials.

You're a Cleric, use Dispell! You can easily dispell yourself out of almost every kind of CC there is. Slowed? No problem, just dispell yourself. Rooted? Oh noes. Just dispell. It's a good idea to keep dispell on a really easy to reach hot key.

Not to mention, you HAVE Root! Sure, it's kind of a really bad one.. but rooting someone gives you a 6 second distance that can really make or break you. It's not really good CC, but it really helps get some distance between you and the enemy. If you get really far ahead, they may as well just give up. It's also good for people who are running away from you and you want to catch up.

Get DOTs! My stigmas are Earth's Wrath, Flash of Recovery, and Festering Wound. When I enter PvP, the FIRST thing I do is chuck on Earths Wrath, Chastisement, and Festering Wound. You'd be surprised how fast their health goes down. Instead of trying to smite the hell out of them like most people do, just let your DOTs do all the work.

Flash of Recovery is a great stigma to have! It recovers a LOT of your health instantly and the cool down is only 30 seconds. It's great for when the enemy uses something that takes out more than half your health and getting off a heal is difficult.

Festering Wound, while not a DOT or even good damage, is a BEAUTIFUL stigma. It reduces the effect of ANY recovery (whether from a Cleric or pots) by 50%. It takes twice as much to heal themselves and therefore gives you the upperhand.

If you get silenced, use a Healing pot! You know, the little yellow ones that cures ailments. I NEVER go out without having at least 20 on me.

I know this should be a given, but ALWAYS have your buffs on you. Refreshing them before they run out will prevent that one vulnerable moment where the Elyos can, like... smell the buffs time out on you.

Light of Recovery is a REALLY good heal skill. It's a faster heal with just about the same amount of recovery as Healing Light. The less cast time you have, the less time the enemy has to cancel it. I usually switch between Healing Light and Light of Recovery for both PvE and PvP.

No matter where you are, ALWAYS take the time to swivel your radar. I have gotten into the habit of turning it so much, I turn it while in Pande and Altgard just because I'm so used to having to.

Yes, PvP is daunting and kind of scary still. I still get butterflies in my stomach when I see a huge red dot on my radar. But it's really fun when you know how to play your character and play it well. Take the time to learn what ALL of your skills are and apply them to any situation you can. A cleric is a really great class to play and we really are tanks. It's hard to kill us and if you play right, you can eff up just about anyone.

Also, armor choice and manastone choice will make a huge difference too. I, personally, stack up on Magic Boost because, hey, I love doing good damage. But a lot of Clerics use HP manastones. NEVER use MP manastones. That's what pots and your Penance are for! I suppose, though, it comes down to personal preference.

As for armor, get the best armor you can for your level. It might be expensive, but it's really worth it.

If you need an Abyss buddy, ask a guild member or a friend to come with you.

If you are reading this and you have any tips to give, please comment! ^^  I really would like to know how you play this amazing class!

Yum, Elyos

So, I decided this morning that I would confront an Elyos!

It didn't go very well, I must admit.  The most I got was a Private Store with "Hey" in it after I said "Hi! :D" in mine.  But only because other Asmodian's came and popped his bubble.  They accused him of gankin' the lowbies. Thing is, we Asmodians do the same thing. We shouldn't complain when it happens to us.  When I first got to the Abyss, Ishyantae told me to expect my fair share of rapin' and getting raped.  I was disappointed at first that I too would be killed. But as it happened, I learned to have fun and to not let it bother me.

In any case, the person I spoke to for that very short period was Laos,  a fellow Cleric.  He seemed to be around the same level as me except he had to be higher as he was resisting my spells while I was getting hit pretty hard.

Ah well.  Perhaps I'll speak to another Elyos in game someday and maybe we won't be so hostile towards each other. :]

So, today I make my first post in this blog.  This blog will mainly be about my adventures with my boyfriend, my guild, and my Asmodian friends in the new MMO Aion on the server Kaisinel.

The MMO is amazingly put together.  A mixture of magnificent graphics and beautiful music, you can easily immerse yourself in this wonderful new world.

As every avid MMOer knows, you'll find assholes in every game you ever play no matter what it is.  Even the Hello Kitty Online MMO has a few (not that I would personally know).  However, don't let the rotten eggs ruin the whole carton.  I have already, in the past two weeks that Aion has been out, met many wonderful friends I know will help me and be there for me when I need them to be. And, yes, I have met quite a few assholes along the way too. Either way, the community really is wonderful.

Now, for a bit of information on Aion:

Quoted (for the most part) from Aionopedia.

"Aion: The Tower of Eternity is a MMO originally developed and released in South Korea, with other localized versions in development to be released in September, 2009. The game developer is NCSoft. Aion combines PvP and PvE game play in a fantasy environment. A unique feature of the game is flight, both as a means of transportation, and for aerial combat. Other games in this genre typically offer flight as a means of transportation only, while combat is reserved for the ground only. "

There are two races: Asmodian and Elyos

Thousands of years ago, the Asmodians and the Elyos lived in a world called Atreia.  The Asmodians live in a region called Asmodae.  Seperated from the Elyos by the Epic Cataclysm, they were plunged into a world of darkness and despair.  Over the next thousand years, they adapted.  Their skin grew pale and their eyes developed a red glow.  Because of the harsh environment they lived in, talons grew on their hands and feet and a mane of hair grew down their backs.  Asmodian people have black wings.

The Elyos live on the lower half of Atreia, known as Elysea.  After the Epic Cataclysm, they found they were bathed in sunlight which, over a thousand years, turned them into beautiful and radiant people.  They see themselves as blessed by Aion and have become arrogant.  They see the Asmodians as cursed creatures.  Elyos people have white wings.

The two races clash inside of the Abyss, which connects the two halves.  The Asmodians, who want peace by discussion, fight hard against the Elyos, who want peace by force.

There are also things called Rifts.  Every couple of hours, a Rift connecting the two halves will open and will create opportunities to PvP without having to enter the Abyss.  However, be careful.  When you see an enemy player, you will not be able to tell what level they are as it will appear as "??."

You cannot speak to the other race either.  Your words are automatically translated into your language when you speak to the other race.  It will appear as gibberish to them.  This helps prevent trash talking and keeps the game clean for all people.  You basically just treat the other race as special monsters.
